Mr. Sarkin-
i'm 15 years old and I just read the book, Shadows Bright as Glass. I just wanted to say that for the first time, I identified very strongly with the emotions and feelings expressed in a book. I had felt a similar, though not as strong, urge to create pictures and art, but I didn't know how or why. Now I can let go of structure more easily, and paint or draw whatever comes to mind. Thanks for the inspiration!

I too had not heard of Jon before hearing his story on Fresh Air. I went to see his art and I love it. I really love the drawings. I don't know if I could afford to purchase it but If I was going to buy anyones art it would be his. How do I find out about prices of his recent drawings?

I'd not heard of Jon prior to the story on Fresh Air, but was so interested. Can't wait to read the book. Any plans of exhibits in the midwest? Is your art for sale?

I, too, heard your story on NPR, and was so interested to get home & look up some visuals. My favorites of your work are the portraits modeled with layers of crosshatching, they emerge from the paper with such form, yet so subtle. I do have a question, are they oil crayons on paper? Are they large or small? I'm am so interested & just trying to get an idea of the scale. Img 5895 5913-5915 & 5905 are my favorites. I'm in Buffalo, NY. Thank you for sharing your story.

I listened to your story on Fresh Air on NPR then went to the web to see your art and I have to say, what I could find captivates me. I do not know much about art, I don't own any art nor can I afford to but if I could it would be yours. I would really like to see it in person, any plans of doing an exibit in the northern California area? Or have I already missed it. Just wanted you to know how your story and art touched me.
